What to Expect
Consciousness Club is a fortnightly philosophy and discussion group exploring the depth of the Vedic wisdom traditions in a way that is grounded, practical, conversational, and genuinely accessible to everyday people.
While the teachings draw from profound systems such as Advaita Vedanta, Samkhya, Yoga philosophy, Tantra, meditation, and subtle energetic frameworks, the intention is never to hide behind complexity, mysticism, or intellectual performance. These sessions are designed to translate timeless teachings into language and insights that feel understandable, relatable, and directly applicable to modern life.
Whether you are completely new to these traditions, mildly curious, deeply immersed in practice, or somewhere in between, you are welcome.
Each gathering may include:
philosophical teachings and discussion
exploration of consciousness, selfhood, identity and perception
nondual philosophy and self inquiry
yogic psychology and the nature of the mind
Tantra and energetic frameworks
meditation and contemplative practice
practical application of Vedic teachings in modern life
Yoga sutras, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita,
open dialogue, questions, and shared inquiry
The atmosphere is relaxed, thoughtful, and deeply human. Participants are encouraged to bring their questions - including the strange, nuanced, difficult, paradoxical, or “out there” topics they may have encountered within yoga, spirituality, meditation, Tantra, or philosophy. Nothing is treated as too basic, too advanced, or too unconventional to explore thoughtfully together.
One of the central intentions of the group is to bridge the gap between ancient teachings and lived experience. Rather than philosophy remaining abstract or purely conceptual, discussions aim to investigate how these teachings relate to relationships, identity, work, purpose, suffering, emotional life, embodiment, practice, and the everyday realities of being human.
Clarity without dogma
Teachings are offered with depth and sincerity, while remaining grounded, approachable, and free from dogma. The emphasis is not on adopting beliefs, but on inquiry, understanding, contemplation, and direct exploration.
Sessions are facilitated by Nicky Grimsdale, whose approach is shaped by more than 22 years of dedicated practice, study, teaching, and lived exploration across multiple streams of yoga, philosophy, meditation, energetics, and contemplative traditions. Known for his ability to make complex teachings approachable without diluting their depth, Nicky brings both intellectual clarity and genuine curiosity to the discussions.
A defining aspect of his teaching style is deep listening. Rather than offering rehearsed or dogmatic responses, questions are met thoughtfully and openly - drawing from a broad foundation of study while remaining grounded in direct experience and practical relevance. The intention is not simply to provide information, but to create meaningful dialogue that helps participants investigate and understand these teachings for themselves.
You do not need prior knowledge of Sanskrit, yoga philosophy, meditation, or spiritual traditions to attend. The group is structured to meet people where they are while still allowing space to progressively explore the remarkable depth and sophistication of these traditions.
Expect meaningful conversations, philosophical depth, practical insight, open-minded inquiry, and a welcoming environment where curiosity is valued above certainty.
